This weeks episode hits the ground running by Fitz and Mellie going into an interview to diffuse the affair but Abby bursts in with the secret service to whisk the President away. In a private room she plays the footage of Olivia confessing to the world that she is indeed the mistress of the leader of the free world. Mellie nearly craps her pants and Fitz gave a hint of a smirk. Olivia’s change of mind to now own up to her relationship with him in the public eye may have turned him on actually.

Then the next thing we know she pops up at the White House. Abby suggests that they spin it by actually telling the truth but Mellie is not going for that at all. Fitz of course wants to sit down and tell the truth as well to be able to move on with Olivia. As always in normal Fitz and Olivia fashion, they jump each others bones while they have a few minutes until the interview.

Mellie calls in Cyrus to act as her advocate for negotiations as a new Junior Senator. He gives his good old pep talk to get her to think logically about what she wants. Mellie is going for the Oval Office. I don’t think Olivia or Fitz will see this coming their way.

Jake comes into Olivia’s office to bring Quinn and Huck back to reality. They were clamoring to stop the bleed out of Olivia’s life all over the press but Jake made it clear that Olivia wanted this. Cyrus negotiates that Fitz will be Mellie’s campaign bitch walking along with her and holding her hand when she runs for office. Abby feels betrayed by Olivia because she didn’t admit to the truth when she asked Liv if she was screwing Fitz. Olivia didn’t want Abby to have to lie for her. Abby soon puts two and two together figuring out that Olivia didn’t tell her because she doubted Abby’s ability to do her job. While on a call with Jake, Olivia admits she feels that she made a mistake. Uh, ya think?

Everyone comes to an agreement and Elizabeth hopes that she doesn’t have to use the “kill” file about Olivia. Mellie calls out Cyrus and telling him that he is soft. Cyrus goes into the office with Fitz with his tail tucked between his legs but he does tell Fitz to take Mellie back.  Olivia runs into Mellie in the dressing room while she is looking for an old batch of her hootch and she tells Olivia how it really works on the inside as the First Lady of The United States while Olivia listened on looking scared shitless.

Olivia tells Fitz that he will take Mellie back and they will wait the 18 months ahead of them to be together. Fitz knows that Mellie got to Olivia by doing the ultimate guilt trip on her. Olivia doesn’t want to give up her life for this isolated new life and Mellie feels abandoned by Fitz. Overlooking the south lawn they reconnect as a team and Fitz recognizes that he took Mellie for granted.

The interview appears to still be happening with Fitz and Mellie as planned. Cyrus comes back into the Oval Office minutes before the interview to beg for his job back to finish what they started together but Fitz doesn’t want anything to do with him. Cyrus quickly changes course and goes back to Mellie to get her off course to plant the seed that Fitz played her. Her blood is boiling thinking back on how Fitz used her down to her very last drop. She walks away once she realizes this leaving the White House with Cyrus.

Abby skips past the interview room and goes to the press room to do  as she had been trained by Olivia throwing her under the bus using her “kill” file. Olivia has to be the villain and she chooses Fitz finally while Aretha Franklin’s classic “You’re All I Need” plays in the background. Out of nowhere Papa Pope gets a visit from Jake.

Next week there is talk of Fitz being impeached, Papa Pope having to dust off his old B613 chops, and Jake being on the hunt to find a potential coded threat. What did you think of this weeks episode?
